A Trip to Grandpa and Grandma Matthews House!

After a lot of health issues with my grandpa, we were finally able to schedule a trip up to the mountains to visit! We drove up to Idyllwild in August and stayed for the weekend and it was so much fun. Grandma Lynette outdid herself with all of her delicious meals and the girls warmed up to the two of them in no time! Here are Grandma and Grandpa with their oldest great-grandchildren (they have one other, also named Natalie, go figure!). This was one of the highlights of the trip for the girls. Millie. At first they were a bit terrified of her but after a few hours they were throwing her toys and giving her hugs and chasing her all around the house. Millie was such a good sport and LOVED the attention as you can see in this picture. They still talk about it now saying " I frow foggie to Millie!" (she had a frog toy). There were also some donkeys next door and the girls enjoyed watching Grandpa feed them apples. Natalie found some of Grandma's emery boards and ran around to everyone wanting to file their nails. The funniest thing? She started "filing" my grandpa's nails and got to his thumb (which is missing the top part due to a long ago battle with an electric saw - the saw won) and she got really confused and then tried to "fix" it by filing it and when that didn't work she got upset. What a crack up. She kept going back throughout the day to see if anything had changed and just kept looking more and more confused. Here she is doing mommy's nails. There was a little tiny chair for dolls to sit on at the cabin and the girls decided that it was just perfect for them. Here's Tessa showing how tiny it is. It reminds me of those clowns who ride the super tiny bicycles at the circus (clowns....ugh).

We had a really nice time and were so glad that we were finally able to get up there and see them. We're hoping that my grandpa's health continues to stabilize so that we can visit more often. The girls had so much fun and loved being in the great outdoors!
